Founder & Game Designer

Chad Waltenberg

Chad is a board game-loving jack of all trades, where creativity and experience commingle to produce the ideas for Armada Games. Ever since childhood, he has always been creative through writing, music, and playing games.  He is a U.S. Army Veteran and well-travelled, also having spent time as a waiter on a cruise ship and OTR truck driver. Always enjoying the process of creating, Cargo Kings and the games in development are off-shoots of real-life experiences and interests.

Among his favorite games are Mister X, 7 Wonders, and the always-classic Cribbage

Chad lives in Central Wisconsin with his wife Emily.

My passion is to connect people by having fun together and I want to see my board games as a catalyst. When designing any game, my goal is to keep the learning curve low where anyone can pick it up within 10-20 minutes, yet maintain a level of difficulty and strategy that is rewarding.

A Word of Thanks from Chad Waltenberg

Armada Games would not exist without the help of others who have lent their talent, feedback, time, and general support. The list below are people who helped along the way, without their insights and critical feedback to develop Cargo Kings and Armada Games as a business, this startup may have died on the vine. Many thanks!

Musings on Development

Musings on Development

• Chad Waltenberg

Read Game Designer Chad Waltenberg's thoughts on developing the first title from Armada Games: Cargo Kings.

"I did what any sane person would do, I ordered everything I would need, map, stickers, markers, various generic game pawns and a label maker to get everything that was stuck in my head and on my word doc into the real world in a crude prototype of what would eventually become Cargo Kings."
